Teaching Kids Outside of the Classroom

30212 African Safari Wood Indoor Play SetImportant lessons do not have to be learned in a classroom. Teaching children while they play increases their knowledge and you can all have fun while doing it together.

You could use blocks or other toys and place them in various locations in the room and discuss opposite relationships such as near and far.  Have children build tall and short towers and discuss how many more blocks it takes to make the taller tower.

Children like to slide so you can talk about up and down as they climb up and down the ladder of a slide.  Or, have running races and discuss how slow and fast are opposites.

For wonderful teaching opportunities use educational children’s toys, such as adventure playsets that include many different figures.  This is a perfect way to teach about different animals, what they eat, where they live and so forth.

An African Safari wooden playset, such as the one pictured in the post, is a great visual tool to teach about Africa and the variety of animals that are indigenous to Africa.  Children love open-ended toys such as play sets and as they use their imaginations to play you will have many teaching opportunities.

Safe Climbing Adventure Playsets for Kids

posted by Eva
November 13, 2009

juniorparallelBecause all kids love to climb, supervised climbing activities are your best course of action.  Whether you take your kids to a park or just to your back yard make sure there are enough safety observers to go around.

When you are alert to the possibility of a falling child it is not difficult to catch them.  Taking a group of children to a playground and they will begin climbing steps, up poles and around climbing frames.  Take kids to a picnic and they will climb trees, leave them in the back yard and in no time you may find them on the garage roof or jumping from piles of stacked items nearby.

Given the fact that you are not going to be able to stop kids from climbing it is a good idea to provide them safe structures to climb on.  One such toy is modular tubes put together in various configurations depending on the age and amount of children.  Check out a Quadro Playset;  a basic design is pictured with this article.

Do You Remember the First Tree You Climbed?

October 14, 2009

100509_dart_1_hr_t320What kid does not love to climb?   I had a great tree in my front yard that my brother and I used to climb.  But my favorite was a very big tree I can still remember that was along the shore of a river not far from my house.

When we grow up and become older we are still seeking the thrill of climbing and taking up the sport by climbing rocks, deep water soloing, ice climbing and indoor rock climbing. Climbing gives us a different sense of adventure and freedom and is something we do not out grow.

But not all kids have trees to climb.  What to do is as easy as getting your kid a Quadro playset and setting it up in your back yard.  Or you could even begin with something smaller such as a set of parallel bars and set it up in your basement or play room.

Safe modular tubing pieces are in bright colors that kids love and they will gravitate to any of the adventure playsets you provide them.  Add to it as your children grow and you will have a play set that will give you more than your money’s worth and years of adventurous climbing fun for kids of many age groups.

I’ve Seen the Rainbow

posted by Eva
September 10, 2009

30002-noahs-ark-wood-indoor-play-setThe Bible tells us that God promised never to flood the earth again. As His sign he sent us rainbows.

Just a couple of weeks ago I looked up into the sky and saw a complete half-moon shaped rainbow; no clouds or buildings blocked any of the sight.  Usually we get to see only partial rainbows so I considered seeing a full one quite a treat.

As usual, seeing the rainbow made me think of the Flood and how God saved Noah and his family as well as a pair of all animals on earth.  The story of Noah may be one of your kid’s favorite Bible stories and having an Ark on hand might heighten the excitement of the story.

Colorful, handcrafted wood play sets make ideal educational kids toys for home, schools and Sunday schools.  Make from plantation-grown rubberwood, an environmentally friendly hardwood, ImagiPLAY’s line of indoor play sets include an 18″ x 10″ x 6″ Noah’s Ark.

Their wood play set includes 14 unique, chunky animals and all the animals store inside the Ark.  Kids love the bright red and green colors of the Ark as well as the cows, elephants, pigs, horses and more.

Having a visual aide such as this will help impress on young children the significance of the story of the Flood and will open up lively discussions for  invigorating lessons they will long remember.

Huskies are considered the perfect companion by many of their owners.  This is probably so because of the fact that they are extremely loyal and especially the older breeds – which are very alert to their owners need and extremely well behaved in most situations.

Alaskan huskies are very energetic, which makes them excellent for families with energetic kids and they are one of the choice dogs for pet owners who need someone to have their daily run with. As dogs go, these breed of dogs are really very energetic, so they need a lot of space to run and play.

Teaching your kids about huskies and this frozen section of our world will be more fun with Arctic Expedition, one of ImagiPLAY’s wooden kids toys.  This is an adventure playset for kids age 3 up.  The 8 x 5 inch igloo tote has a Velcro-closure to store all the wooden figures. There are seven chunky figures including  a husky and a natural wood sled.

Available online.

30212-african-safari-wood-indoor-play-setA Safari Themed Party with jungle Zoo animals with rainforest music can get the guests into the feel of a real safari. Safari Theme Party Food which can be served at a Safari Themed Party are burgers, fries and colorful drinks with umbrellas.

For your Safari Themed Party choose from sweet treats like safari cakes, zoo animal face cakes and or safari cupcakes.  Animal crackers/cookies can also be used as a decoration, simply place zoo animal crackers in a party bowl and use the boxes to make Animal Zoo Cages.

A fun game to play is Hide & Go Seek or Tag.  The person who’s “it” wears an explorer’s outfit (safari “pith” hat and binoculars) and the rest of the players wearing zoo Animal Masks.  Another game can be played like an Easter Egg or Scavenger Hunt, just hide your inflatable safari animals, and have the party guests place the animals they’ve collected in their own Animal Zoo Cages.

Decorate a your party with inflatable zoo animals and make paper bag safari puppets.  Put up safari print balloons and streamers. Have each guest dress up as their favorite safari animal, and the guest of honor as the explorer.

30315-rocket-ship-moon-indoor-play-setWhen your day is crammed with too much to do and your kids are looking for some attention take a break and spend some time playing together.  Everything will go smoother and you will create a memory making experience.

This might be a perfect time to pull out a new adventure playset you have tucked away in the closet for just such an occasion.  Kids who are beginning to show an interest in space would enjoy some new space themed childrens learning toys.

Exploring our Galaxy will be fun with a Zoom to the Moon playset that includes wooden figures of aliens, animals and even a spaceship.  Then you could make a stop at the library and check out some new books to read together.

Another idea is to search the Internet for coloring pages about space and spaceships.  Plan a day of space-fun and arrange to throw an outer space themed party including recipes and crafts.

Let’s Talk Quadro Construction Kits

posted by gbowen
August 8, 2009

parallel-barsWhen your children get bored with one structure you can tear it down and make another design.  I compare this with the Tinker Toys I played with as a child, only on a much larger scale.

Although it may be time consuming, kids love the fact that they can dismantle and rebuild these kits over and over again without harming the play set.  Fun and adventurous alternative to watching TV or playing video games, your child will develop cognitive and motor skills while building each frame.

Quadro construction kits have high safety standards.  All parts are made out of sturdy, but soft, plastic panels which make it difficult for children to get hurt.  Joining parts, such as the corner frames and bolts, are made out of large, colorful plastic parts.

The image shown is only one of the many structures that may be designed from the Quadro Junior II Kit besides a fort, priate ship, juice bar, theatre, shop, goals and many more.  Available online.

Ride the Rails – Build Your Own Locomotive

posted by gbowen
August 8, 2009

29-013120-10-locomotiveAs a child I was limited to the forts my brother built (see “It was Built and they Came”), but children nowadays can make an airplane and take a ride over the Atlantic Ocean, construct their own rocket ship and fly to the moon, design a car and race in the Indianapolis 500, build a locomotive and ride the rails, all from one Quadro playset.

With money being tight these days you want to get all you can when you select a new playset for your children.  Everyone from churches, day care centers, play zone facilities and homes will benefit by owning modular construction sets.

With the Quadro vehicle kit, for example, your child can build and tear down structures as often as he wants.  With this one play set he could build an airplane, locomotive, car, rocket ship, truck, buggy and much more.

These kits can be used outside or inside and are in bright colors such as green, yellow, red and blue – all the colors kids love.
