With so many choices of toys for a two year old you may find yourself feeling overwhelmed. You know you want to select an educational toy to help your toddler in his development, but just where do you start.
You may already know it is not a good idea to give your children too many toys so you know you need to select the toys you do purchase carefully. This list may help you in deciding just what are some of the best toys for a two year old.
• Paint brushes (large) and sponges for painting
• Parents who sing, talk, and read to their child
• Play dough or non-toxic modeling clay
• Puzzles (simple ones, ideally with knobs for manipulating the pieces)
• Riding toys
• Sandbox and sand toys (sifters, shapers)
• Shape sorters
• Shopping carts for toddlers and related “shopping” toys
• Stacking toys such as large cardboard building blocks for toddlers
• Stuffed animals and dolls
• Water toys
ImagiBRICKS are a cardboard building bock toddlers have been playing with for many generations. Being that they are lightweight yet strong make them a perfect children’s toy for your toddler boys and girls. Kids love stacking, knocking down the towers, and re-building over and over again. This fun activity helps them build strong muscles. They are available online at our toy store, All I Can Imagine.
Your child’s favorite toy will most always be a wooden toy. Buying your children a wood toy should be carefully done.
Children’s wooden toys made from a hardwood will be splinter proof and a safe toy for your children to play with. Quality built toys will last longer so they will cost a little more but you will have peace of mind as your child is playing.
Safe wooden toys are available at All I Can Imagine and are reasonably priced so everyone can afford them. One of our newest wood toys is in our baby and toddler category.
This is only one of our pop up toys which have been a favorite of young children for generations. A pop up toy is among the number 1 product recommend by therapists.
The 4 figures spring up and down, through a concealed spring within the base of the toy. These toys are geared for aged 12 months and up and kids love playing with this colorful toy.
Teaching animal facts to your kids will be more fun if you have puzzles for kids from All I Can Imagine. These puzzles are made from splinter proof wood, are 3d puzzles, and are finished with non-toxic finishes.
Each animal puzzle comes packed in their own wooden tray for safe keeping of all the pieces. Each puzzle has at least one piece that is an individual character of the animal you select such as a moose, bear, wolf, etc.
When it comes to teaching your kids about interesting wolf facts you can share these tidbits with them as your child is playing with his new wolf puzzle:
•Wolf pups are born deaf and blind while weighing around 0.5 kg (1 lb). It takes about 8 months before they are old enough to actively join in wolf pack hunts
•The wolf is the ancestor of all breeds of domestic dog. It is part of a group of animals called the wild dogs which also includes the dingo and the coyote
•Wolves have two layers of fur, an undercoat and a top coat, which allow them to survive in temperatures as low at minus 40 degrees Celsius! In warmer weather they flatten their fur to keep cool
•Wolves in the Arctic have to travel much longer distances than wolves in the forest to find food and will sometimes go for several days without eating

It is said that “Reading can also be a social activity that is important in boosting a child’s self-confidence and building socialization skills, which are especially critical for children in need. By providing these children with the gifts of reading and language skills, Townsend Press and Kids Wish Network are truly improving the quality of their lives while also giving them hope and opportunities for a better, brighter future.”
This was a paragraph from an article I found online. You may read the entire article on Kids Wish Network.
Kids Wish Network Mission: Kids Wish Network is an international charitable organization dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children having experienced life-altering situations. Kids Wish Network assists children and their families through several key programs.
In teaching beginning reading and even before that kids can begin recognizing their first 100 sight words by playing many sight word activities available with Little Reader Blocks. See them online at All I Can Imagine. It is never too soon to incorporate fun games to help children fall in love with the written word.
You are in for a treat! We have Bouncy Buddies on our website under our stuffed animal toys category!
What are Bouncy Buddies? They are 6 inch plush animals that have a hard rubber ball stitched inside their tummies and the bounce just like a ball.
Kids love to throw balls and these are safe inside or outside. We caution families who own dogs – they will want one of their own ball toy. To keep the balls clean that you provide your children let the dog only play with his own toy.
Some of our available animals are dog, cow, alligator, pink pig, just to name a few, and our newest addition a cute giraffe we call Sierra.
Click here to see a Bouncy Buddies Video and watch the bouncing fun!
These ball toys make great gifts for birthday parties. Or, keep some packed away for a rainy day when you need a surprise gift for your child or when relatives drop over with their children.
The year of 2012 can be called a year of charity according to an article in TDmonthly’s publication. Over 1,000 unique educational toys were put into the hands of teachers and students across the USA.
Generous donations were from such companies as Crossen Creations, Find It Games, b.dazzle inc., and Amazing Science, just to name a few companies involved in this giveaway. The donations were said to be facilitated by the work of four different specialty owners of toy stores that won a chance to give toys to their local schools and other charities.
For example, Phil Wrzesinski of Toy House & Baby Too, a favorite toy store in Jackson, MI since 1949, split the toys he was donating into 25 different boxes. Twenty of the boxes were sent, one at a time, to 20 different school districts in Jackson County. The last five were able to be won in a drawing he had by customers who then donated the educational toys to Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Toys for Tots, and two local children’s camps.
Phil is quoted as saying, “The coolest thing about it was just the way in general people responded,” “The schools were thrilled and tickled pink. Students sent us thank-you cards. But really neat was the response from customers and people saying they love Toy House, so it was a big plus for us.”
Feedback on Toys
Phil said he and his customers have been intrigued by Bambooga by Uncle Skunkle and the Deluxe Find It! – neither of which he has carried before, even though he sells other Find It versions.
Read about the give away in a local Michigan newspaper article.
One of the types of toys donated by Find It Games can be seen here and is on sale during December 2012.
Blocks are just plain fun! Blocks of all sizes and shapes provide babies, toddlers, preschool, and young children opportunities to play without any rules being imposed on them.
In all countries of the world children are playing with blocks of all sizes and materials. In a play zone setting across the seas you can see a video of these kids playing with blocks. I had fun watching them and could see how much exercise they were getting.
Blocks are an educational toy that provide open ended play and allow children to have fun while building muscle strength in their bodies. While watching these kids play in the video you will quickly realize how they are building up leg and arm muscles as well as upper body strength.
Three of the reasons blocks always make the best educational toys are that they:
- promote open-ended play
- provide children opportunities to work together toward a common goal
- teach creative thinking
As children play together they will decide what type of structure to build and work with one another to design it as they proceed with their “task”. Children of all ages can work together and create unique structures that they can knock down and re-build over and over again.
Over sized blocks provide many play opportunities for children of all ages and usually come packed flat and require assembly. One such block set are ImagiBRICKS.
Read What Happened When a Teacher Removed All the Kids Toys from His Classroom!
I read about a teacher who wanted to see what would happen when he removed all the kids toys from his classroom. He thought that kids do not really need the latest and greatest toys and other learning tools in order to learn and succeed and wanted to try an experiement.
And, according to Pete Kaser, a teacher in Wellington, Ohio, he concluded that “they don’t.” Kaser is said to have replaced all the toys and other learning materials in his classroom and substituted only cardboard boxes.
Happily he discovered that the kids did not care; in fact they actually thrived in their new play environment. All of a sudden, according to Kaiser, the quieter kids began turning into leaders as the group began to come up with their own ideas of what to do and what to build with their cardboard boxes.
Kaser noted that by the end of the day the kids had not only learned to work together, negotiate as well as solve their own problems, they built some pretty cool igloos and pirate ships. The teacher proved that kids do enjoy empty boxes just as much as flashy toys.
With this in mind, when you are looking for new children’s toys keep it simple and you will be sure to purchase toys your kids will love and keep on playing with for many years. We suggest large cardboard block toys such as ImagiBRICKS. You can see them and read about them at All I Can Imagine, just click on the cardboard block.
