10011 Puff the Alphabet Dragon 3d ABC PuzzleYoung children can be encouraged to learn their abc’s with many of the  educational childrens toys that are on the market today.  Shopping online for wooden puzzles will provide both parents and educators a wide variety of unique abc wood puzzles.

Puzzles encourage logical thinking because they involve putting related pieces together to form a completed object.  Playing with puzzles is a great quite activity and involves concentration.  Nowadays it is important for children to have many “quiet” type toys to combat the world of constant stimulation.

Each puzzle piece usually has its own letter and is a different color from the piece on either side of it.  Children not only learn their letters, they learn colors as well.  And because 3d wood puzzles have to be assembled sequentially, children will quickly learn what letters come after one another.

When selecting an alphabet puzzle for your child you will want to make sure it is age appropriate.  Also important is that you select an animal or other character that your child likes.  If your child does not like dinosaurs, for instance, and you purchase a dinosaur puzzle it is likely he will set it aside and not play with it.

It is very important that you select 3d puzzles that are made from splinter-proof wood and painted with non-toxic paint.

Do You Remember the First Tree You Climbed?

100509_dart_1_hr_t320What kid does not love to climb?   I had a great tree in my front yard that my brother and I used to climb.  But my favorite was a very big tree I can still remember that was along the shore of a river not far from my house.

When we grow up and become older we are still seeking the thrill of climbing and taking up the sport by climbing rocks, deep water soloing, ice climbing and indoor rock climbing. Climbing gives us a different sense of adventure and freedom and is something we do not out grow.

But not all kids have trees to climb.  What to do is as easy as getting your kid a Quadro playset and setting it up in your back yard.  Or you could even begin with something smaller such as a set of parallel bars and set it up in your basement or play room.

Safe modular tubing pieces are in bright colors that kids love and they will gravitate to any of the adventure playsets you provide them.  Add to it as your children grow and you will have a play set that will give you more than your money’s worth and years of adventurous climbing fun for kids of many age groups.

40503 Fish RattleWhen we were growing up baby toys consisted of a lot of plastic toys and rattles.  Nowadays parents are beginning to discover (and babies too), the wonderful world of natural wood teething rattles.

Even though wooden baby toys may be more expensive compared to mass-produced baby toys, it is important to minimize chemical exposure for babies and your children. This is especially important in the first year as babies are putting everything in their mouths.

Because babies can absorb large amounts of toxic chemicals with the toys and baby rattles they put in their mouths parents can easily find alternative materials for there baby rattles online. Look for solid wooden baby rattles made from Beechwood.  ImagiPLAY is a manufacturer of all-natural rattles that are hand-crafted and sanded baby smooth and are finished with beeswax which is a natural antiseptic.

Your baby will love the feel of the natural wood and the ease of grasping and teething with the whimsical shapes available for him and he will have the right type of rattle in his mouth.

Why Should You Turn Off Your Television?

30212-african-safari-wood-indoor-play-setWe are all supposed to eat plenty of vegetables to stay healthy.  But, are we turning into vegetables by watching too much television.

If you think the television is a baby sitter and your kids are not getting enough exercise make plans each day to stop what you are doing and get out one or your kids wooden indoor playsets or one of their other educational children’s toys and spend some quality time with them.

The Safari wooden play set shown above includes all the animal figures you see as well as the jeep with rolling wheels and is available online.

The American of Academy of Pediatrics Society suggests that children watch no more than one to two hours of  “quality programming,” whether on TV or video, each day. The  Academy also says that children need physical activity and personal interaction, not a diet of glaring electronic images, especially when they are lewd, violent, or inane.

10878-dogfamily-2Toys, such as wooden puzzles, keep children interested and busy for many years.  3d puzzles allow for “downtime” for children and give parents a break from having to entertain and direct.

Wood puzzles inspire children and provide many possibilities for play and imagination and keep their attention for longer periods of time than toys with batteries.

It is difficult for children to switch gears from vey active toys to resting toys and supplying a variety of simple toys and 3d wooden animal puzzles is a wonderful idea when you want them to gear down for a nap or evening bedtime.

Having an animal puzzle available for simple lessons and story telling time will also help children relax and get ready for their nap.
