Adventures in OdysseyThere are beautiful children’s Bibles out on the market today and I wish I had had one as a child.  Many Christian comic books are available for young kids and teens as well.

For parents and educators online shopping will provide you a wide variety of educational computer games and Bible games for kids that will help make the Old Testament stores come alive.  Adventures in Odyssey and the Sword of the Spirit and Joshua Computer game are two such games for younger children.

Providing these and other Christian board games as Christmas gifts will provide new ways to bring exciting learning experiences to your children and open up communication about Christian values that are important to teach your children.

Trivia question:  Who said, “OK, men!  Make sure you bring comfortable shoes when we get to Jericho!” You might find the answer in the Joshua Computer game.

bibleopolysmAre you and your family spending more time eating in front of the television?  If you are not spending enough quality time with your family and the art of conversation has been lost try turning off the television.

When the TV is off you and your family will have more time to do active things such as taking a walk or going to the library.  Another good idea is to have family games night.

Playing Christian board games or Bible games will not only be great family fun but educational also.  There are many unique and exciting board games being sold online that are not readily available in your retail and discount stores.

Bibleopoly is one unique game where you win by being the first player to build a church in one of the Bible cities. Or play Exodus from Egypt, a board game of the Israelites’ epic journey in the Exodus.

Experts say when you spend time with your family and play and laugh together instead of watching TV that you will sleep better.

Family Games Night

dont-sink-the-shipWhile your children are young it is important to provide them many educational kids toys.  By doing so you will reap the harvest of a child who is well-developed emotionally and is smarter than others his age.

As your children grow older their choices of toys will begin to change and they will want to include family games and Bible card games that involve rules.  Therefore it is important to have age appropriate games in your home that the whole family can sit down and play together.

Even though lots of games are just for fun you can also include educational Bible games such as games that teach Bible characters and Old and New Testament History.

Back in the 1950′s I grew up playing Chutes and Ladders and Mr. Potato Head, but nowadays parents also have the Veggie Tales and Hermie  and Friends series of games as well as early American history, human anatomy and geography games. Pictured above is a popular Veggie Tales game, “Don’t Sink the Ship”,  that encourages communication and conversation.
