What Does a Wood Toy Do?

20201 Elephant Family 3d Wood Puzzle NaturalLots of educational kids toys do nothing.  They all do not buzz, ring, clang or make any noise but children still love a wood toy just as we did as children. As popular as ever educational kids toys such as 3d wood puzzles, wooden spinning tops games, blocks and other open ended games are still providing exceptional learning experiences to young children.

The fact that many kids learning toys do not make noises or do anything is one reason they are becoming so popular nowadays.  Kids will always play longer with toys and puzzles that enable them to use their imaginations and play make-believe. Wooden toys let them do this to a degree that electronic games and interactive toys do not.

When you’re shopping for kids educational toys, let your own imagination go.  You can use children’s wooden toys not only as gifts, but as an opportunity to grow closer to the children in your life.

20701 Santa in Sleigh 3d wooden puzzleThere was a time when, as children, we were given wooden children’s toys more often than not.   We may not have appreciated the toys at the time, but with the new age of electronic gadgets we can now appreciate how simple and uncomplicated these children’s wooden toys were.

One of the reasons wooden toys are so popular, and remain so, is that anyone can play with them.  Playing with just about any wooden toy is not intimating and can be enjoyed by all age groups. Best of all children love receiving wooden puzzles and toys because they’re different.

These days DVD’s and computer games are ordinary not necessarily the best educational kids toys available.  Children’s wooden toys are something out of the ordinary. Children can’t get enough of toys that don’t beep, buzz or click.

When it’s time to buy a gift think wood.  Explore wood games, trucks, trains and 3d wooden puzzles for your child and the child in you.

Promote Independent Thinking in Your Preschoolers

10803-sealife-puzzle-playset1Four and five year olds need toys to enhance and develop creative thinking and decision-making.  Providing puzzle games and construction toys is paramount to allow this development to occur.

Any area where children gather to play, whether at home, in day care facilities or waiting rooms, the choice of educational kids toys provided for them is important to help the children become aware of their potentials.

Wooden children’s toys are a good choice as waiting room toys because they are sturdy and durable and easy to clean. Open ended toys such as puzzle games are a favorite toy for boys and girls of various age groups and will keep them busy creatively playing.

To help promote independent thinking and provide an avenue for creative thinking consider a Sea life 3d puzzle that doubles as a play set.  Each puzzle piece of this wood play set is an individual toy.  Chunky figures are easy for little hands to grasp and the bright colors and uniquely shaped sea creatures will provide children with a toy that has no rules.

Children can play with the animal figures or put them together to form a beautiful puzzle they can put together on the floor or a table.  There will be many teaching opportunities for parents and educators as you talk about the dolphin, turtle, sea horse and many of the other sea life creatures.

Promote Independent Thinking with Kids Building Blocks

girls-with-40-pc-set-blocksParents are busy multi-tasking more than ever these days and may feel guilty about not spending enough time playing with their children.  But there is another way to think about this.

Even though you want to spend time with your children they do need plenty of free play time by themselves or with other children so they will learn how to “work” with others as well as problem solving and independent thinking.  Therefore it is important to provide many age appropriate educational kids toys in your home.

By providing your children open ended toys such as giant kids building blocks they will have ample opportunities for creative play as well as learning problem solving and improving their motor skills. And as you are busy in the kitchen preparing their favorite meal you will be rewarded by hearing them planning and building and laughing together.

Family Games Night

dont-sink-the-shipWhile your children are young it is important to provide them many educational kids toys.  By doing so you will reap the harvest of a child who is well-developed emotionally and is smarter than others his age.

As your children grow older their choices of toys will begin to change and they will want to include family games and Bible card games that involve rules.  Therefore it is important to have age appropriate games in your home that the whole family can sit down and play together.

Even though lots of games are just for fun you can also include educational Bible games such as games that teach Bible characters and Old and New Testament History.

Back in the 1950′s I grew up playing Chutes and Ladders and Mr. Potato Head, but nowadays parents also have the Veggie Tales and Hermie  and Friends series of games as well as early American history, human anatomy and geography games. Pictured above is a popular Veggie Tales game, “Don’t Sink the Ship”,  that encourages communication and conversation.

I’ve Seen the Rainbow

September 10, 2009

30002-noahs-ark-wood-indoor-play-setThe Bible tells us that God promised never to flood the earth again. As His sign he sent us rainbows.

Just a couple of weeks ago I looked up into the sky and saw a complete half-moon shaped rainbow; no clouds or buildings blocked any of the sight.  Usually we get to see only partial rainbows so I considered seeing a full one quite a treat.

As usual, seeing the rainbow made me think of the Flood and how God saved Noah and his family as well as a pair of all animals on earth.  The story of Noah may be one of your kid’s favorite Bible stories and having an Ark on hand might heighten the excitement of the story.

Colorful, handcrafted wood play sets make ideal educational kids toys for home, schools and Sunday schools.  Make from plantation-grown rubberwood, an environmentally friendly hardwood, ImagiPLAY’s line of indoor play sets include an 18″ x 10″ x 6″ Noah’s Ark.

Their wood play set includes 14 unique, chunky animals and all the animals store inside the Ark.  Kids love the bright red and green colors of the Ark as well as the cows, elephants, pigs, horses and more.

Having a visual aide such as this will help impress on young children the significance of the story of the Flood and will open up lively discussions for  invigorating lessons they will long remember.

The Deliberate Dentist

toys-for-waiting-rooms

I take my son to the dentist for routine cleanings twice a year. He’s 5 years old and about as rambunctious as a child can be; it’s a chore just herding him into the car, let alone keeping him tranquil in the waiting room. And it doesn’t help that our family dentist is incredibly deliberate. Sure, I appreciate that he takes his time and does his job right the first time, but that can sometimes mean hour-long stretches listening to elevator music before an appointment.

Luckily the office is crammed with toys for waiting rooms, including wooden blocks and puzzles. In addition to the normal selection of Highlights magazines, these items keep my son busy for the long, laborious periods of time after arriving at the dentist’s. My son becomes entirely engrossed in the process of modeling miniature buildings. For my part, I’ve learned to bring a good book.

Engaging Your Kids with Educational Toys

snail number counting 3d puzzle

When kids are engaged and interested with their toys, they simply learn better. After all, just look into a classroom when something is being taught through rote memorization. The children are generally distracted, bored, and uninterested. But when an educational game is being played, the children are excited and happy to be involved. And when tested, games usually show a higher general retention rate.

That’s why parents should always incorporate educational kids toys into their children’s arsenal of products. Whether you’re trying to teach them their numbers, the alphabet, or just basic spatial skills, jigsaw puzzles are a great way to go. Many of these rudimentary puzzles are labeled with numbers or letters, so all your kid has to do is follow the sequence, and they’ll be rewarded with a completed puzzle.
