Build, Jump, Crash – Fun with Blocks Toys!

Do you remember how much fun it was to build with large blocks?  They are so versatile you can build anything you want to.

Giant cardboard building blocks are still being made today for the enjoyment of a new generation of kids. As toys for toddlers you just can’t purchase a more enjoyable toy for your boys and girls.  No matter what the skill level of your child he/she will be able to build things, jump over the blocks, crash into them and even step on them.

Cardboard block toys stack into tall towers and when knocked down (which they will be) they not only won’t cause harm to anyone, they do not make noise and scare anyone or wake a napping baby (or mom).

Kids building blocks made of cardboard can safely be given to very young children.  At first they may only carry them around and put them in a wagon or a truck, but as they grow they will begin creating the own structures and towers.

Children will develop muscle strength as they carry around their block toys.  Parents can use these blocks to teach basic math skills to children when they are able to begin learning math.  If you have sets of several colors they can also be used to teach colors.

Making up games to play with your blocks children will gain self-confidence as they complete the “task“given them.  For instance, you could ask the child to separate the red blocks from the blue blocks.  You could have the child stack into separate piles each different size or color.

For beginning counting and addition have your child take three blocks from a larger pile and put them in a separate location.  Then have the child add one more block and count and/or add it up.

Children may learn better balance when you set up the blocks (or let the child do it) in a maze.  Have your child walk quickly, or run through and around the blocks without touching them or knocking them down.  They will love this game!

These toddler toys are as popular today as when your grandparents were young.  Many grandparents are purchasing these ImagiBRICKS for their grandkids throughout the year for gifts. Our popular set of 40 pieces is pictured above.

Building Towers!

posted by gbowen
November 20, 2010

By the time a child is two years of age they are capable of stacking toy building blocks and building towers.  When children have a set of giant cardboard building blocks in their playroom they enjoy carrying them around, putting them in wagons and creating structures out of their imaginations.

There are several advantages of having larger sized kids building blocks – one being they will develop coordination skills while stacking and secondly, they will increase their muscle strength when carrying the blocks around the house.

Thinking back to our childhood I think playing with construction toys and toy blocks were two of the toys that were the most fun.  Educational kids toys that are open-ended keep kids busy with fun play as well as enabling them to develop social skills.

Whether at home or in a day care center, having plenty of different sized blocks to play with will offer children opportunities to play either alone or with others.  Our 24 piece set of ImagiBRICKS (by Smart Monkey Toys), contain 4 large 12 x 6 x 3 red blocks, 6 medium size 6 x 6 x 3 blocks and 14 small 6 x 3 x 3 blue blocks.

This is a good starter set for younger children who may not be ready to pickup the larger blocks, yet the set has four large blocks waiting for them when they are ready to handle the larger ones.  Once you see they can pick up and carry the red blocks you will be ready for sets of all large blocks in either red or rainbow colors.

When children begin showing interest in the larger blocks they will want to begin building towers and you will want to be ready with a set of  larger block toys.  Did you know that ImagiBRICKS are crush-proof and strong enough for even an adult to stand on?  Visit our website and you can see me standing on one of the red blocks!

Widely regarded as an essential developmental toddler toy, giant cardboard building blocks are kid’s building blocks that give your children a head start on physical development and coordination.

Kids love to stack their toy blocks.  They also like to knock them down.  When you get them giant ImagiBRICKS™  to play with no one will get hurt when they knock down their towers and structures!

Manufactured by Smart Monkey Toys, these award-winning toys for toddlers are the block toys your grandparents played with when they were children.  The only difference is that now they come with a drool-proof coating so they can be easily wiped down to prevent the spread of germs.

Another way younger children play with these blocks is to carry them around.  This type of play will help your children develop stronger muscles and balance as the carry them around and set them down.  As they get a little older they will begin building towers and other structures from their imaginations.

Being one of the best open-ended toys you can give your children giant blocks are great for individual play as well as group play.  Group play will help develop your child’s social skills as they work together with others to create, build and knock down their structures.

Nicely packaged in a box with an image of the blocks these are great Christmas gifts; all you have to do is add some pretty wrapping paper or maybe just a large bow so you don’t cover up the pretty box!

Giggles will abound as the children run around and in and out of the towers while they learn to coordinate their little bodies as to not bump into the blocks.  If you purchase the Rainbow blocks which include red, orange, green and purple blocks you can also teach your children four new colors as they play.

Starter sets include 16 red giant blocks.  If you have more children you will want the larger sets or maybe even a small bulk quantity of 50 red blocks.  See many selections on our website, All I Can Imagine.

Shopping Game for Children Using Toy Blocks

posted by gbowen
February 15, 2010

Back in the 1950’s my dad built me some wooden shelves so I could play shopping.  My playmates and I would often shop in our grocery store and to this day I like to go food shopping.

Creative play is an important learning tool for children and they need all the open-ended play time they can get.  Setting up a grocery store that is not as permanent as the one I had in my basement can be built with ImagiBRICKS toy blocks. These giant cardboard building blocks can be purchased online and come in red, orange, purple, green and timber-look.

The kids in your neighborhood will help you collect empty cereal boxes, cans, pasta boxes, asprin boxes, diaper boxes, etc.  Design your store with the toy blocks then place your products on your shelves.

Get together and price all your cans and boxes and make some carts out of old boxes.  Kids will have a ball shopping in their very own store and this pretend game will help provide them opportunities to learn organizational skills, mathematical skills and important problem solving skills.

Children can take turns collecting the play money and giving change. After they have finished shopping each child can load his purchases in a wagon and go to her own “house”; which could also be built with the building block toys.

Parents and educators love giving their toddlers and young children giant cardboard building blocks.  ImagiBRICKS, now from Smart Monkey Toys, are toy blocks that are made from recycled cardboard.

The wonderful thing about corrugated cardboard is that it is strong, yet very lightweight, making it a wonderful choice for preschool play. The cardboard is printed with water-based, non-toxic colorful inks and an additional clear ink coating is added to each block to make it water-resistant. The blocks are also recyclable.

Giving these giant kids building blocks to young children is recommended by doctors, parents and educators. Kids will carry them around and their muscle strength and coordination will begin to increase.

As they get a little older they will begin making simple towers.  Knocking them down will be just as much fun as carring the toy blocks from place to place and their creative little minds will soon begin making simple towers and structures.

Groups of children will gather around the cardboard building blocks and begin to work  independently (if there are enough blocks to go around).  If you have a limited supply of blocks and there are several children around you will want to help them “work” together to build a small structure.

If you own a preschool or children’s play zone it is recommended to own a bulk quantity of at least one hundred cardboard toy blocks.

How High Can You Build?

4024-rainbow-blocks1Toddlers age 2- 3 years old are becoming more creative and enjoy role playing activities. Providing them giant cardboard building blocks at this age is recommended by doctors and educators.

When children are given building block toys they get to play without any rules. Several age groups of boys and girls can have their imaginations run wild as they plan, build, play and knock down the blocks and begin all over again.

Children’s self esteem will be enhanced by playing with these educational children’s toys and it is wise to supply them with as many giant building blocks as you are able.  It is also a good idea to find out if your child’s day care center has a supply of giant building block toys.

1016-red-imagibricksWhen children reach the age of 18 months doctors are recommending both boys and girls be given large building block toys.  Creative people have the ability to come up with new ideas.

Open-ended toys, such as giant cardboard building blocks, encourage children to practice coming up with new ideas. Boys and girls will spend hours playing with their large blocks and will increase their social skills as they discuss and plan what to make next.

Block building gives children the chance to find solutions to problems and experiment with creating patterns. And of course, there is the fun of knocking them all down and starting over when a new idea pop’s up in their mind.

Block play at home and in day care is an important part of your children’s development and children of several ages and abilities are able to play together as a group.
