Helping Your Toddler Release His Energy

Both you and your toddler will have fun playing together.  Play releases your toddler’s energy in a positive manner and may help your stress level decrease when you play open ended games and don’t have to say “no”.

One idea is to do some simple Yoga exercises.  If you know any yoga poses, you will find that toddlers can catch on quickly. Toddlers enjoy imitating anything. Do the simple animal poses, such as monkey, elephant or down dog. Then make up your own silly poses.

These games will also offer you teaching opportunities about the animals and their habits.  And if you have more time have a simple animal theme craft handy.

The elephant is a highly intelligent mammal.  The African elephant is the largest land animal.  During these activities children can learn some basic facts about this amazing mammal. http://www.first-school.ws/activities/shapes/animals/elephantshapes.htm

Your toddler will love playing with a Safari Stacking Blocks set which includes many animals (including a large elephant) and your child will love imitating and learning more about all of the safari animals. These wooden kids toys are excellent toddler learning toys for kids two and up.  Available online at All I Can Imagine.

How To Make A Giraffe Puppet

Growing up I was lucky enough to live near Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago.  As an adult I used to walk there on my lunch hour for a quick retreat.

With spring in the air it’s time to begin planning a zoo outing with your kids.  But if you do not live near a zoo you could provide your kids with one of our children’s wooden toys from our toddler toy collection of playsets.

Our zoo toy is one of our beautiful, fun-filled toddler learning toys that will bring hours of creative play to kids age 3 and up.  Our zoo toy includes eleven hand-painted animals, a three piece zoo entrance, a penguin pond and four fences.

Besides providing children wooden playsets it is fun to make simple crafts with your kids.  There are several zoo themed ideas I found at this website:  http://www.freekidcrafts.com/zoo.html.  One that I particularly liked was the Giraffe paper bag puppet. (I have always liked puppets and they are great toddler learning toys.)

Giraffe Paper Bag Puppet – Print out one of the giraffe templates ( color – or – black and white). Color the giraffe, if necessary, and cut out the 2 parts. Glue the giraffe’s head to the bottom of a small lunch-sized paper bag. Lift up the fold and glue in the neck of the giraffe so that when you put your hand inside the bag it looks like the giraffe has a head on top of a neck.

Visit our website today and see all our children’s wooden toys!

Tune Into Your Children

While your radio is softly playing in the background take a moment and listen to how your kids are playing. You will find opportunities to gently guide your children as they are playing with their toddler learning toys.

Children who have open-ended learning toys will have opportunities for creative learning fun and as you listen to them “plan” and “work” together you will notice that their social skills are developing.  When you take a moment to “tune into” their play you will be able to provide guidance in their social development when and where needed.

While children are playing with such toys as cardboard blocks and building towers and other structures you will notice which children take leadership in the planning.  You will begin to notice if there is a child being bossy or how he accepts suggestions as another child offers his own ideas.

Toy cardboard blocks, such as a set of CityBlocks by Smart Monkey Toys, is a fun toddler learning toy and provides your children an opportunity for creative play and work that builds important social skills they will need all through their lives.

Children playing together are not only creating reality in play, they are also adapting to new realities, work, and therefore it is important to allow children many opportunities for unstructured playtime every day.

Our Brain – The Sponge

A child’s brain is likened to a sponge and absorbs enormous amounts of a variety of information. Because the brain continues to expand as it grows it is important to expose your children to a variety of open-ended wooden kids toys.

Not only are children exposed to a variety of toddler learning toys at home, there are wooden toys in their daycare, Sunday school and waiting rooms. Where ever your children are becomes an opportunity for teaching opportunities.

You can help your children learn colors, for example, while sitting in the doctor’s office.  If you put down your magazine and observe the toddler toys available you could point out to your child a chair and say to him “this is a chair.  The color of the chair is blue”.

Quality education is most important to the mental health and growth of all young children and it is because of this that you will find it beneficial to surround your children with playsets, wood puzzles and other toys that have a variety of shapes and colors to keep your children interested in play and learning.

Your child may love playing with a Sealife puzzle playset pictured above.  Each chunky puzzle piece is it’s own creature including a sea horse, crab and turtle.  Made from splinter-proof wood this is one of our toddler learning toys is for ages 3 up.

Combine fun and learning and you have a happy child.  Educational daycare toddler learning toys play an important role in your child’s development.

Toys have to hold your child’s attention and advancing technology is leading to new innovations is toys specifically designed for toys in daycare centers.  Classic toys such as musical toys, coloring books, paint sets and time tested wooden kids toys are appearing in waiting rooms, Sunday schools, and daycare centers.

Did you know that daycare toys and toddler learning toys are now appearing in shopping malls and toy shops in every possible field?  The variety of children’s wooden toys for parents and educators to choose from includes activity centre toys, sports, science, painting, building block toys and even electronic and computer toys.

Children’s toy collections should include age appropriate toys and with subjects that they are interested in or subjects that you want to introduce to your children.  Remember if a child is bored with a toy, or he finds it too difficult, he will set it aside.

Kids love toys and wood puzzles with a variety of shapes and sizes and in bright primary colors.  By 2-1/2 to 3 years old children have good hand and finger coordination making chunky 3d puzzles a perfect daycare toy. A popular wooden kids toy is our bunnies number puzzle pictured above.  This toddler toy has small parts and is not for children under 3 years old.
