Turtle Monument at Punalu’u Beach, Big Island, Hawaii

On November 25, 1995, turtle lovers in Hawaii showed how important sea turtles are to them. They put up a stone monument at Punalu’u Beach on the Big Island of Hawaii.  The monument honours Hawaii’s sea turtles. It also honours the “Legend of Kauila.”

According to Hawaiian legend, Kauila was a turtle with special power. She could turn herself into a young girl. The people of Ka’u loved Kauila because her spring gave them drinking water. They loved her even more because during the day, Kauila took human form and watched over their children as they played along the shoreline of the bay.  She did this because she, too, liked to play.

Kauila kept the children safe.

Punalu’u Beach is a beautiful cove of black sand. There are many green sea turtles there. These turtles are tame and friendly. They often swim close to children playing and swimming in the water.  This makes the children really happy.

See more information on other turtles, where I found this information.  Go to: http://www.turtles.org/monu.htm

Most kids are fascinated with sea life and the wonders of the deep blue sea.  Therefore we would like to introduce you to one of our wooden kids toys from our puzzle play collection.

These toddler learning toys are for ages 3 up and come in a variety of themes such as Rainforest, Sea, and Dinosaurs.  These are wood puzzles that double as a playset and each puzzle piece is a separate toy.

Educational children’s toys make the perfect gift and are played with all year round.  Kids can play alone or with a friend and create their own adventures as they learn about various sea life creatures, such as the turtle, when they receive a 7.75” x 7.75” “Sea Life Puzzle Playset”.

“For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand” continues Albert Einstein. So, it is nothing new that children explore their world through play and are more likely to develop healthy relationships when playing with open-ended toys.

Pretense, or the ability to engage in pretend play, is the child’s way of thinking.  Children have the ability to use one thing to stand for another. Toddlers between ages 18 and 36 months will bring pretend play into full bloom and it is said that the roots of pretense extend back somewhat into infancy.

When selecting toddler learning toys one of the recommended toys are play sets.  Providing your child with a playset with a theme he/she is most likely interested in will help ensure he will stay interested in the new toy.

Children love all the toy animal figures that are included in our wooden kids toys manufactured by ImagiPLAY.  One such toddler toy for ages 3 up is our heirloom-quality, hand-crafted Noah’s Ark.  This toy is destined to be a classic and comes with male and female animals creating 14 unique animals.

As a ”bonus” all the wooden animals store in the base of the Ark for safe keeping.  The set also includes Mr. and Mrs. Noah.  What fun your child will experience when he opens up this marvelous wooden toys this Christmas.

Do Your Kids Love Zoo Animals?

posted by gbowen
November 19, 2010

This past weekend a friend and I drove to Dahlonega, Georgia.  We mainly wanted to see some colors and that we did.

Of course we made a stop at the visitor’s center and in doing so found a brochure about the only North Georgia Zoo (which I had never heard of).  It is the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve and has animal species from around the world, including rare white Siberian Tigers.

Besides their exotic and domestic animals and walking trails they have educational programs, animal exhibits, photo sessions, forums, corporate events, lectures and more.  If you live in the area this would be a great place to have a kid’s birthday party.

A Day At The Zoo Play Set

For those of you who can’t get to a zoo anytime soon our A Day at the Zoo is a children’s wooden toy that will make a great toddler learning toy for your children.  You will love the unique zoo entrance and all the wooden animals.  Each piece is chunky in size and easy for young children to handle.

As with all our indoor play sets, these zoo animal figures are made from splinter-proof wood and painted with lead-free paint and your kids will love the bright colors.

Christmas will soon be upon us and it is not too early to order your playset!  Visit All I Can Imagine and see our A Day at the Zoo, Zoom to the Moon, Arctic Adventure and more.

Manners Matter

posted by gbowen
October 6, 2010

For one reason or another many people don’t think that teaching toddlers manners is that important. However, if you want to raise a well-mannered child then you must start when they are little. This is because toddlers learn things so easily. In fact, many of the things toddlers learn will naturally become automatic as they get older, which is precisely what you want when teaching good manners!

Children who have open-ended toys to play with, such as toy blocks, will have many opportunities for creative play as well as building social skills and manners.  Giant cardboard building blocks are exceptional educational kids toys for preschool children.

While parents monitor their children’s play time you can observe how the children interact and react to one another’s suggestions of creating structures and playing games with the toy blocks.  When necessary you can gently guide them in their manners and ability and willingness to share and cooperate with one another.

Building block toys can easily be stored up against a wall in your child’s room or your playroom.  Remember to keep the out in sight because children will gravitate to these large building blocks whether they are playing by themselves or when company comes.

The more children you have the more blocks toys you will need.  ImagiBRICKS have a drool proof coating and it is important to often wipe them down to prevent cold germs from spreading.

Available online at  All I Can Imagine in starter sets of 16 large red blocks, 24 pc sets, or 40 pc sets.  Your children will also love our Rainbow blocks which come in red, green, orange and purple. Bulk quantities are also available.

These toddler learning toys are an ideal Christmas gift or birthday present for parents and grandparents to provide their boys and girls.

Can You Locate the “Cold Pole” on a Map?

posted by gbowen
October 1, 2010

Introduce your children to the land and sea distribution of the Arctic!  And to make his lesson even more fun provide an “Arctic Expedition” children’s wooden toy for indoor creative fun play.

Toddler learning toys by ImagiPLAY are safe toys for children ages 3 up. Their collection of Play Sets include the evey popular, Arctic Expedition. This award-winning playset includes an 8″ x 5″ tote-able Velcro-closure Igloo and nine chunky wooden figures including a walrus, seal, two polar bears, three people figures and a dog pulling a sled.

The distribution of land and water in the Arctic is a factor with important implications for climate. Because water has a higher heat capacity than land and so exhibits a greater resistance to temperature change than does a land area (that is it has greater thermal inertia), land heats up more during the day and in summer, and cools down more at night and during winter than do adjacent bodies of water. This means that localities immediately adjacent to water exhibit smaller seasonal temperature variations than do localities that are situated well inland. For example, continental conditions cause the climate to be quite severe in the interior of northern Russia and Canada. The “Cold Pole,” or coldest part of the Northern Hemisphere, is in northeast Siberia near Verkhoyansk.

The Arctic consists of an ocean surrounded by land, and the ocean has a warming influence on the land. However, because a large part of the Arctic Ocean is covered by an insulating layer of ice, the warming influence of the ocean in winter is decreased. Leads and polynyas (cracks and open areas in the ice) permit intense heat exchange from the water to the atmosphere during the cold part of the year because of the large differences between the air and water temperatures. But overall, the influence of the ocean in moderating local climate where sea ice is present is much less in winter than in summer. In Norway, where open water persists all year, the moderating effect of the ocean is largest in winter.

It is important for your child’s early learning development that they are provided toys and crafts that involve two or more skill building activities. Lacing toys are one good example of just such educational childrens toys.

There are several important benefits in providing toddler learning toys which promote good eye-to hand coordination. These include general physical coordination as well as increased self confidence in successfully completing a task.

LacingScapes, a new lacing toy from ImagiPLAY, will provide your children ages 3 and up hours of educational play as they lace 15 creatures into the 8” X 10 “ ocean or pond background. This is an ideal toddler toy to help your children develop fine motor skills as well as problem solving skills.

Children can quietly play and increase confidence in their ability to complete a task all on their own.  These children’s toys are unique in that they are made from wood and the background and all the creatures and yarn can be safely stored in its own wooden tray.

From the head down towards their trunk the child’s development will progress and providing toys to help improve your child’s eye-hand coordination will help keep their reflexes sharp. The more your child makes use of these types of skill building activities the better they will get.

Even though your preschool children have many types of toddler learning toys and children’s wooden toys  in their arsenal parents have no control about the toy phases their kids will be going through.  What is their favorite toy one day may be set aside the next day and for several weeks.

For a period of time your child may be into their dinosaur wooden toys, the next day toys with wheels and the next week all they want to do is build structures with their toy blocks.  It is beneficial to have all sorts of toddler toys available for your kids.  Here two recommended toys I have just read about as well as a reminder that Eco-Friendly toys are the way to go!

The LeapStart Learning Table from LeapFrog is an activity table filled with lots and lots of fun activities for your toddler!  This is a great educational toy which your child will enjoy.  There are 2 modes, a music mode and a learning mode both of which cause the numerous buttons and gadgets on the table to produce a different output.  There is a book which teaches the alphabet, a music keyboard which teaches the colors, the trademark frog and much more!

The Neurosmith Music Blocks set is the perfect toy to inspire a love for music in your child. The Neurosmith Music Blocks set, as the name suggests, features musical blocks along with a unit and changeable catridges. When a block is inserted into the unit, a musical piece can be heard. Toddlers will have a great time trying out the various combinations that are possible by turning the blocks around get variations of the music playing.

Eco-friendly toys which are made from natural, safe materials and do not harm our environment, are  highly recommended.  Eco-friendly, or green toys, as they are known, are easy to find if you know where to look!  There are certain speciality manufacturers who take great pride in their eco-friendly products.  Some of these manufacturers include the German company Haba, ImagiPlay and others.  Do your planet a big favor and pick up these eco-friendly toys today!

Craft Fun for Developing Fine Motor Skills

posted by gbowen
September 4, 2010

Children will use and develop fine motor skills and have fun with this Binocular craft and game. Explore nature and find exciting things in the park, zoo or your back yard.

Spending time in nature is a wonderful idea to help your kids develop their senses. Here is a craft idea you may like to try. I found this at: http://www.twigglemagazine.com/March-activities/binoculars-craft.html

Materials

  • 2 toilet paper rolls
  • Craft paper
  • Crayons, markers, stickers
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Yarn
  • Directions:
  • Cut a 2½ inch wide strip from craft paper lengthwise. Let children decorate the strip with crayons and stickers. Punch one hole at the end of each paper roll. Let children paint strip around the other end of the paper roll and let dry. Add glue to the middle of the paper rolls. Place strip colored side face down on the table. Place paper rolls one inch apart on the strip (see pic 1). Let dry. When dry, add glue to the strip (see pic 2) and wrap around the paper rolls. Place a book on the top to hold in place while drying. Thread a length of yarn through the holes to make a necklace for children to wear the binoculars.

Tell children that they will be using their binoculars to look at specific objects inside the room or outside in nature. Encourage children to describe in detail what they see. Note: Instruct children not to walk while looking through the binoculars.

When it is time to come in and have quiet play-time offer your children one of our wooden kids toys featuring animals of the Rainforest, Sea or Dinosaurs.  Unique puzzle playsets are wonderful toddler learning toys for ages 3 up.

Your kids will love the animal figures from the puzzles; each individual puzzle piece is an animal toy and will stand up by themselves.  Your children can play with the animal figures or fit them together as a puzzle while they sit at a table or on the floor.

These are great educational children’s toys to open up exciting learning opportunities and can be a useful prop during their lessons.

Fun and Friendship

posted by gbowen
June 21, 2010

Even though preschoolers find fun and friendships with their peers, their most important relationships are with their parents and other family members.  Therefore, it is important for adults to continuously help their preschoolers work out interpersonal difficulties in a positive way.

Parents teach children how to behave correctly because they love their children and the children will listen as a parent explains correct behavior because they care about the parent and their opinion of themselves.  This effective socialization is therefore based on a high-quality attachment relationship.

As parents provide their children with open-ended toddler learning toys opportunities to learn proper social skills will automatically happen. Toys that have no “rules”,  such as playsets, allow children to make up their own situations and parents can gently guide their play as needed.

Many of parents bonding experiences with their children can happen during open-ended playtime.  Teaching opportunities easily open up while children are playing with themed play sets such as a farm, zoo or safari toys for toddlers.
